Tamil Nadu Delegation Visits Mogral to Explore Mappila Cultural Heritage

Mogral: A distinguished team of writers, scholars, and cultural enthusiasts from various parts of Tamil Nadu, led by renowned Tamil writer and researcher Saalai Basheer, visited Mogral, known as Ishal Gramam (The Village of Music), to delve into its rich tradition of Mappila literature, particularly Mappilapattu, and its deep-rooted cultural ties with Tamil.

The delegation included prominent personalities such as Professor Muhammad Hassan, Ansar Midaalam from Nagercoil, Salman Asif, Abdul Latheef, Thameemul Ansari, Khader Meeraan, and Ashkar Ali Ahmed.

The reception was held at KS Abdullah School, Mogral, where Naser Mogral, President of the Kerala Mappila Kala Academy (Mogral Chapter), presided over the event. The welcome address was delivered by Z A Mogral, General Secretary of the chapter. The official inauguration was conducted by B. Abdullah Kunhi Khanna.

The event saw participation from a host of cultural and literary figures, including M. Maheen Master, Sayyid Hadi Thangal, Basheer Ahmad Siddiq, M. A. Najeeb, M. A. Abdul Rahman, Suthrimulla Faisal Ali Chenkal, K. M. Irshad, Muhammad Kunhi K., Ashraf Perwad, A. K. Riyas Muhammad, Abdullah Kunhi Naduppallam, Muhammad Kunhi B. A., Muhammad Basheer (Engineer), A. M. Abdul Khader, C. M. Muhammad, and Hameed Perwad.

The visit highlighted the historical and linguistic links between Tamil Nadu and Kerala, particularly in the realm of Islamic and Mappila cultural expressions. The interactions and discussions focused on preserving and promoting the shared literary and musical heritage across regions.
